Yahoo Falls

Well, here is a good part of my process. You can see how I shrunk my drawing down(it's under the pencil. I scanned it in and re-sized it in Paint-shop Pro) and printed it along with the picture of the landscape. I drew it out on my little plague thing and now the challenge is to paint so small. This will take some work, but I'm ready to give it a go. The waterfall in the background is Yahoo Falls, the tallest one in the state. Really neat place to hike if you are near Cumberland Falls. It's about 15 miles West. Everyone take care and have fun!

New drawing

I'm still working on the piece below, but I needed a break from all the Green involved in it. I worked on a drawing for my next piece. A good friend of mine posed recently at the Yahoo Falls. That's in Southern Ky. The tallest Falls in Ky in fact. She is also a great model so this piece should be good. BUT, the nine inch drawing you see will have to be shrunk down to about 2 inches or so. I'm painting on some smaller pieces so I can put them on Etsy. Shipping is a killer, so I'm going to try this. I hate working small, but maybe this will have some sales on Etsy. I sold that piece a few weeks ago, but I needs more money. Everyone take care and have fun!

Studio pic/New artwork

Working on the new piece. I'm using Color Pencil again. I just had a little time to work today so this is all I have, but my wife got pics of me working. I look like hell, I know, but I give up on that. Hope you like the artwork though:)

New Drawing

Drawing for the next painting. It's of Robin at Waveland. Not sure I got her likeness down as much as I want, but it's what I have for now. I'll get her when I start my color pencil I'm sure. I'm looking forward to doing this one a lot. Oh, and Waveland is a historic site South of Lexington. Check it out, it's a nice place just outside the city. http://www.nps.gov/history/nr/travel/lexington/wav.htm

Sundown in the Fields

All right, I had a lot of life creeping in lately, so this one took a while to finish. Here it is though, I'm calling it Sundown in the Fields. Not always easy coming up with titles. Pretty happy with this one, I'm working on the drawing for the next one, but I wanted to get this one out for everyone to see. I'm really happy working with the Color Pencils. They allow me to work in finer details. Everyone tale care and have fun!

New Artowrk

Here are five steps of the work I'm currently working on. I'm not done, but I'm getting close. Color Pencil really is the medium I'm most comfortable with.I do the work on Black mat board, I really hope they never stop making this stuff!  Fields are still kind of new to me, so I hope I do a better job on this one than my last couple. Skies are hard to do in Color Pencil, but I feel I left out just enough to not make it so hard. In my reference picture there is a lot more sky. The fences and buildings are really fun to do. It's a little change from the usual rocks and tress. Maybe it's a good piece for Spring/Summer time. Everyone take care!

I forgot today is Gallery Hop. If anyone is near Market street tonight, stop by Christ Church Cathedral. I have two paintings there. I might even be there. I will stop by but probably check out the other exhibits around town. Hopefully it will be a good night.
